A Dream Journey

One of my favorite moments in life is that moment, curled in my lover's arms, waiting for sleep to take me. It is one of the most unique moments of my day, because it's the time where I let my mind drift to the events of the day, the fantasies of the night, the nightmares and treasures of my past... It's where my mind allows me to COPE.

When I'm beginning to doze, I contemplate the topics I need to face or want to face. I let my mind be filled with them, consumed, and as I begin to doze, I sleep with whatever the topic is preoccupying my mind.

Sleep is very unique, we encounter REM (rapid eye movement) and deal directly with our subconscious  depending on what psychological theory you prescribe to. I enjoy these moments, because some of the most resourceful ideas I've ever come up with have been delivered to me. I speak with myself about my issues and learn exactly what I need to encounter.

Next time you're lying there, waiting for sleep to engulf you, try this very simple exercise.

Close your eyes, and contemplate what you want to dream about. Create a scenario in your mind and play it out until sleep engulfs you. Then learn what, exactly, comes from this trial when you wake.
